I have been in Finland since 2000 July. I have been experiancing how the Finnish people exercising democy without any violation or dishonour others. The media have a great role to bring the hot issues to the society in different ways, interms of attacking, need conffession or bring the high profile of government to the top level.

I blieve the media have a great role, because they bring the issues without in favour of any parties, but the objective of the news. In addition the society accepted and adapted the way the media practicing of free speech. The media uses it authority to raise any hot issues weather it touches an individual, a celebrity, a company, a group of peoples, a politician in high post or even the president.

The media judged by society and other media, who may have different ideology in terms of bringing the other dimension of the issue. The good thing is that, if the society or even a single person feel like the raised issue by the media is violates the limite, it can be done report to the police. The police take the issue seriously and start preliminary investigation. That means the investigation will revile the truth with out any discriminating any one of the participant parties. That why I said the entire system is transparent and every step can be analyzed at any point.

I know comparing the western and Africa governments media policy is not something that can be imagined or simply it is the same as distance difference between earth and sky. However, free speech is one of the key tools of developing the country, acquiring the knowledge of society and shifting the remote controle of the “big brother” to the society judgment.

I raise today the issue about media and politics in Finland. It is just because of this week top issue of the Green Party is leaving the government because of the decision on building Fennovoiman nuclear power, that produce electric power. I raise this issue, because I think it is a perfect example to African leaders how political parties are dedicated on their ideology. If they don’t get what they set their political objectives during they elected, then they are not welling to do not even as a government body. The Green Party is not welling to practicing nuclear power in Finland, it is because of the four (4) years government program they agree was not to give permission to Fennovoima for building the nuclear power program. This costs to Green Party leaving the government and two ministry position (ministry of environment and ministry of Ownership Steering Department in the Prime Minister’s Office).

I simply think this decision of Green Party, if this kind of peaceful transition happens in Africa! It might be one of the best examples to the entire African countries after the late great Nelson Mandela leave the presidency position to the next person peacefully even though he served 27 years in prison. If this kind of political peaceful transition happens in Africa, Africa will be more stabilized, democratic, peaceful, developed and moreover the best place to live in the world. In order to change this kind of way of thinking in Africa, it needs civilization change in terms of education society how to understand the difference of ideology and how to deal with mutual understanding. It needs also a system that can handle the difference and understanding each other and free discussion can be practiced in mutual understanding form.

Another big problem of African government is the political ideology. Politically they are classified by their tribes. This makes it so difficult to create mutual understand between political parties in any issue, because the discussion on any issue will be in favor of their tribes, not about the ideology how to do things in different ideology point of view. In my mind being different in ideology doesn’t divided the felling of patriotism. It doesn’t create also selfishness, individualism and corruptions. Africa’s countries must change their political ideology differences from tribe party to like the westerns political system ideology. That time practicing politics will be being different in how to do things in different ideology stand point, but not in favor of anyone’s tribe. This bring transparency in free speech, makes society together for their country and moreover, reduce peoples fight (war) against each other.

Africa can localize the “westernization” way of practicing politics. That doesn’t mean that Africa do not uses own political ideology system, however while changing the way of practicing politics like westerns, then working together and understanding between western and Africa will be more easy and trustworthy.
